HOUSE CONCERT BAsics
a quick guide to hosting a house concert
What is a House Concert?
A live performance that transforms your backyard, deck, basement, patio or garage into an intimate live music venue for one evening with your friends, family, and community.
Why a House Concert?
Incredibly engaging way to interact with live music
Much greater focus on the music than at a typical venue
Ample time before & after the performance for interaction
Free parking
BYOB snacks and drinks = cheap
All money generated goes straight to artist
What does the HOST have to do?
Provide a space for performance and an audience of 20+ people
A deck, basement, living room, patio, garage, gazebo, shed, barn, etc.
Electrical outlet access from performance area
Help bring a crowd. This is a team effort. Let’s talk about a game plan. We can make it happen.
Refreshments (discretionary to host)
What happens on the day of the show?
I will arrive two hours prior to the show to load-in and set up for the show
Unless I am flying, I will provide all gear necessary for the performance
Guests arrive about one hour before performance with blankets, chairs, and coolers
I will play for 60-75+ minutes and spin a few yarns
After the set, we can all interact and fans will have an opportunity to buy merch
Your guests are welcome to stay as long as you like
Okay, that sounds cool, but what about the money?
There are two ways to handle the money end of this.
We agree on a ticket price/donation price and make tickets available online to the general public. The address of the event will only be provided once a ticket has been purchased. I will provide the ticket link and collect all of the revenue.
Host pays a flat fee and the event is free for invited guests
*I have a very reasonable financial goal that I am hoping to achieve with each date. Please do not let prices scare you away from asking about hosting a show. I’d love to come play your place, and I am affordable. Let’s talk.
